Bears new head coach Marc Trestman seemed to suggest that there’s a chance WR Devin Hester‘s time in Chicago could be coming to an end. “(We) had a chance to talk a few minutes but we didn’t get specific on anything,” Trestman said, per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. “Just an opportunity to get to know each other but not to put in concrete what his role would be if he winds up coming back.” Hester, 30, previously mentioned that he would consider retiring after the team fired head coach Lovie Smith. Hester later backed off of the suggestion. According to Biggs, Hester “might seek a trade as he is unhappy with his role on the offense and his relationship with quarterback Jay Cutler.“ Biggs adds that it’s “unlikely” Chicago would be able to get much in return for Hester at this point. Hester hasn’t been the same type of weapon in past few years, which is to be expected given how great he was at one time. He’s never offered much as a receiver and the fact that he’s set to make $1.85 million next season could be enough for Chicago to cut him loose.
