Giants Football Blog:
Devin Thomas has told the NY Daily News that he is no longer the Giants’ kickoff returner. He will likely be replaced by running backs Da’Rel Scott and D.J. Ware.
Thomas has shown promise as a return man, and has excelled on special teams in the past, but has failed to break off a long return recently, and has muffed a couple kickoffs to boot.
“I can be a stud back there,” Thomas said. “But I’m a dud if I’m out there muffing returns.”
Though the 24-year old has physical talent (he is a former 2nd round pick), he is at the bottom of the depth chart among wide receivers, and is in trouble of being inactive or even losing his roster spot if he does not regain his kickoff duties.
