Was Andy Dalton’s recent three game tear of 300+ yards per game and a touchdown/interception ratio of 11:2 just a mishap? I say no, that was not just a mistake. You don’t accidentally have the best year of your professional career to date. Dalton has finally clicked with his weapons on offense and they will be hard to stop for the rest of the year despite losing Thursday night 22-20 in overtime to the Dolphins. Dalton threw for 336 yards Thursday night, but that was overshadowed by the three interceptions he threw, including a costly pick six in the red zone. He would have had a touchdown pass to Marvin Jones, but it was called back on a Jermaine Gresham holding penalty. Dalton can only do so much to help the team and he can not control his teammates to not hold. Clearly AJ Green is the staple in the Bengals offense but Dalton and Jones have been clicking more and more as the weeks go by. This has helped Dalton develop the mindset that the success of the offense does not just depend on AJ Green. Having trust in his other receivers has led Dalton to being able to spread the ball around more, leading to more yards and offensive success. Obviously Dalton is still young, so he is going to make mistakes. You can not expect someone in only their third year season to come out and play like Peyton Manning on a consistent basis. However, the past month he has shown he has the potential to play to a pro bowl level and I think he will be able to keep it up. Football is a mental game, and if Andy Dalton has the confidence in himself and believes he can play all the time like he did in the month of October, he will be able to turn the corner in his career. The critics always say that the performance of Andy Dalton will be what makes or breaks the Bengals. So far, Dalton has had a pretty good season, leading the team to a  4-1 record in their last five games. The four straight games of 300+ yards were definitely not a mistake for Dalton, and I believe he has taken the next step in his career and shown that he is capable of being the leader that the Bengals have been looking for to take their team to the playoffs and make it out of the first round. Dalton’s bad day in Miami may have ended his hot streak but it will not stunt the growth of his playing ability.

Andy Dalton is just plain confusing

The saying is “Any Given Sunday” but it seems “Any Given Sunday” you may have a different Andy Dalton. No Cincinnati Bengals quarterback has ever thrown for 11 touchdown passes in a span of three games and then Thursday night happened. Not Boomer Esiason, Carson Palmer, or even Ken Anderson has accomplished what Andy Dalton did. But after his performance against the Miami...

Andy Dalton admits he doesn't know NFL safety rule

After last night weird ending to the Bengals-Dolphins game in which Miami won in OT on a safety, of course Andy Dalton was asked about the play. For some reason, he decided to admit that he doesn’t know the safety rule per USA Today: Said Dalton of the play: “It was tough. I don’t know exactly the rule, if it’s a foot, or if it’s the ball, or what it is but from the replay...

Dolphins Record Walk-Off Safety on Andy Dalton to Defeat Bengals in Overtime (GIF)

The World Series wrapped up at Fenway Park on Wednesday, but this week apparently needed just one more shocking and absurd finish. A game-ending obstruction and a walk-off pick-off ended a pair of games between the Red Sox and Cardinals in the most unlikely of fashions, and on Thursday night, the Bengals and Dolphins ended their game on a play that has only occurred twice before...

Dolphins beat Bengals on OT safety

With the Miami Dolphins needing any kind of score to end a four-game losing streak, two points were plenty. Cameron Wake sacked Andy Dalton for a safety with 6:38 left in overtime, and Miami beat the Cincinnati Bengals 22-20 on Thursday night. On third-and-10 from the 8, Dalton retreated to the goal line and was tackled by Wake coming up the middle for the third overtime safety...

Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Geno Atkins is out for the season with a torn ACL in his right knee. It was the most unlikely of scenarios, but defensive end Cameron Wake's sack of Cincinnati quarterback Andy Dalton on Thursday night lifted the Miami Dolphins to a 22-20 overtime victory, their first win in more than a month. Thursday's victory for Miami marked just the third time in NFL history that a team won in overtime on a safety. For the Dolphins, the victory ended a...

Bengals Still On Top Of The AFC North, But For How Long?

It has not been a great week of football for the AFC North division in Week 9. In a dismal week where we saw three teams of four lose, the Cincinnati Bengals managed to hold onto their lead of the division by two games, thanks to some of their bigger wins this season. It was a week full of loss for the division, as it only saw a win because it had to see a win. The Cleveland Browns...
