Buccaneers’ running back LeGarrette Blount played in Sunday’s 16-10 win over the Carolina Panthers. But if you showed up to the game late you missed his three carries. During Greg Schiano’s day-after-game press conference today, no answer was given as to why Blount did not return to the game.

“LeGarrette could have gone back in the game so let me make that clear,” Schiano said. “He came out of the game and we thought it was his leg. We’re not sure.”

Could Blount have quit? Could he have gotten frustrated too quickly and taken himself out of the game? What if he felt discouraged due to Doug Martin’s fast start?

Clearly that is all speculative and there are no known cases of Blount quitting in the past. However, by the time he touched the ball, Doug Martin had 35 yards of total offense compared to his total of 10 on four touches.

Another sign of Blount possibly not caring was in a picture taken by 98.7 The Fan’s Justin “The Commish” Pawlowski. He snapped the photo below during the fourth quarter of yesterday’s game (notice as Blount is standing away from the other running backs during the fourth quarter).

At this point, Blount’s absence from the game is subject to public opinion. For the sake of the team (and for himself), let’s hope he doesn’t begin a new trend of taking himself out of the game just because he is not the starter or is not getting the bulk of the touches.
