The Washington Redskins traded a lot to move up four spots in order to select Baylor quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III with the No. 2 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. While parting with valuable picks both this year and next, the Redskins got their man, and most people felt it was a very smart move. Then, just three rounds later, the team drafted Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins early in the fourth round, which came as quiet a head scratcher. Was Cousins drafted to put added pressure on Griffin III to perform? Did Mike Shanahan want yet another positional controversy on his team? Has this man and this organization learned absolutely nothing over the years? While the answer may still be yes, there is a bit of a method to the madness that is Shanahan, Daniel Snyder and the ‘Skins front office. Sure, Washington could have used the No. 102 pick overall – exactly 100 spots after Griffin III was selected – to help fill some holes on the rest of the roster. The Red...

Why The Redskins Drafted Kirk Cousins

It was shocking at first and seemed downright illogical, but after further though it makes perfect sense as to why the Washington Redskins drafted Kirk Cousins in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. After trading a three first round picks and a second rounder to acquire the No. 2 overall pick to draft Baylor quarterback and Heisman trophy winner Robert Griffin III, it is clear...

Report: Redskins had Kirk Cousins rated as their 3rd best QB

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Washington Redskins had former Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins rated as their third best quarterback going in this past weekend’s draft.  This means that he was likely only rated lower than Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III and ahead of Ryan Tannehill, Brandon Weeden, Nick Foles, Russell Wilson, etc. The Redskins drafted Cousins...

Why is there a Kirk Cousins-RGIII debate exactly?

The man in DC What the hell is everyone talking about? I usually can see the value in opinion pieces penned by most members of the media. The manufactured crap around the “horrible” and “controversial” nature of Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins joining the Redskins simply baffles me. It started when I read the following SEO headline a few days ago from Ashley Fox’s ESPN...

Redskins get RGIII and address needs in 2012 NFL Draft

The 2012 NFL Draft is over and the Washington Redskins were able to address the needs that they so desperately were seeking.  The big story without a doubt was the selection of Robert Griffin III from Baylor with the second overall pick which sets the stage for the Redskins to have their franchise QB for

Cousins will do fine in Redskins’ family

Why are people feeling sorry for Kirk Cousins? Why do people think his selection by the Washington Redskins was controversial? The Redskins thought he was a value in the fourth round so they took him. Cousins may be a backup. Or Robert Griffin III could be a flop. Then Washington has a backup plan in place. Look no further than 1994, the year Washington drafted both Heath Shuler...

Griffin III Ready To Rock With Redskins

The Washington Redskins selected quarterback Robert Griffin III with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Fantasy Spin: RG3 runs like a Ferrari and propels the pigskin like a rocket launcher, and could develop into one of the most lethal franchise quarterbacks in the NFL. The Baylor phenom should make a splash right away, and will be worth targeting as a No. 2 fantasy quarterback...

Robert Griffin III Brings Hope to the Redskins

The Washington Redskins’ long search for a franchise quarterback has finally — they hope — reached a successful conclusion: Robert Griffin III is the second overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft, and he’s the man who will, more than anyone else, determine the Redskins’ immediate future. For Shanahan, who will turn 60 during training camp, Griffin is his last, best chance...

Herm Edwards has trouble counting to four

A lot of times, funny stuff happens on live TV when you're covering the same event for 243 consecutive hours.  Men start attacking other men for getting pedicures.  Average NFL prospects turn into surefire Hall of Famers.  Old men start frothing at the mouth and yell at you through the TV screen. But, basic counting is usually something that doesn't get mixed up by on...

2012 NFL Draft: What Papa John's can teach us about Big 12 QBs

With Baylor's Robert Griffin III, Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill and Oklahoma State's Brandon Weeden going in the first round, the pros bet big on Big 12 quarterbacks in this year's NFL draft. Yet, for all the statistical eye candy that the league has pumped out behind center, Big 12 QBs have enjoyed little success on the next level. The conference hasn...

Draft Grades: Washington Redskins

The Washington Redskins draft was all about one player. And while they made some questionable choices later on, the selection of RGII is all that matters. Robert Griffin immediately becomes the face of the franchise in DC. But fans who expect him to immediately turn things around are going to be disappointed. He’s still very raw and there will be growing pains. What sets him apart...

NFL Draft G$s and Duts

My in-laws were at the Mansion this weekend.  I barely helped my father-in-law paint a room in the house because I'm lazy and awesome.  I found out that it is my mother-in-law who keeps Rizzoli & Isles on the air.  But most importantly, THEY realized that turning off the NFL Draft is a topic that should not be addressed.  They showed up on Friday night and were forced...
