Found September 01, 2012 on State of the Texans:

We had to find out more about new Houston Texans fullback Tyler Clutts so we traveled to Chicago, not really, and enlisted the help of Adam Oestmann on Chicago Bears Huddle of ChicagoNow. We asked Adam for his thoughts on Clutts and what he could bring to Houston.

He covered a few things that should make the Texans fans feel better about the 6’2″, 260 lbs. fullback coming to lead block for Arian Foster and company.

 Adam tell us:

Well, basically, the Bears want to run a lot of “Ace Personnel” this season (2 TEs and 2 WRs). They’ll use their tight ends as lead blockers primarily but also to create matchup issues in the passing game given their new weapons on the outside in Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. I’m telling you this because it serves to show why Clutts is no longer in Chicago, because it has nothing to do with his play—he simply didn’t fit what the Bears wanted to do this season.

Prior to the trade, Clutts was, in my opinion, the best in-line blocker the Bears had out of the backfield. He played all 16 games last season, half of which he started. Not bad for a guy snatched off an NFL practice squad. Make no mistake about it—tape doesn’t lie—the addition of Clutts was a big part of what allowed Matt Forte to have such a breakout season in 2011; it’s something I know personally that he took a lot of pride in.

He’s the type of player you just want on your team: hungry, driven, humble, smart. He’s a good guy. He’s a solid special teams contributor, and when you review a lot of the Bears’ big returns last season, it’s no coincidence that Clutts was on the field blocking for a most of them. Well miss him in Chicago, but if the Texans plan on using him to his strengths, they won’t be sorry.

We would like to thank Adam Oestmann for his help and you can follow him on Twitter and visit his coverage on the Chicago Bears at Chicago Bears Huddle.

Video: Brawl erupted at Houston Texans preseason game

Now that football has returned, so have brawls in the stands. They can happen at other sporting events, but they are definitely more prevalent at football games.   Take for instance this fight that broke out in the upper deck of Reliant Stadium last week during a Houston Texans preseason game.   Checkout the guy in the [...]

Amidst a flurry of moves, the Houston Texans reduced their roster and met the league imposed 53-man roster deadline on Friday evening. Andre Johnson Goes For A New Pair Of Kicks

I love the smell of new sneaks Juan… Andre Johnson was looking for some new kicks when a fan who recognized him took advantage of a quick photo op.  Andre Johnson is a silent leader on the field and just reminds me of a guy who is a introvert off the field.  IF he can stay healthy we are looking at a guy who is easily capable of 100/1500/8.  The issues are that the Texans are...

Bears trade Clutts for CB McManis

Old Navy FAILS at printing NFL shirts

Old Navy has recently released a series of shirts called the NFL Team Champions Collection, in which they’ve come into some serious design flows. For instance Old Navy had a Houston Texans 1961 AFC Champions Shirt which was recently taken down due to error. The errors in the design were pretty significant in that the Houston Texans didn’t become a franchise until 2002 AND the...

Roster spots were on the line against Texans

The Minnesota Vikings ended the preseason Thursday with a 28-24 loss to the Houston Texans, unable to gain any momentum team-wise while finishing the preseason with a 1-3 record. But this preseason hasnt been about a record; its been about the development and evaluation of a very young roster. A look at how the team graded out with its backups on the field in the final rehearsal...
