It was not a pretty night for the Denver Broncos, only proving that a lot of work still has to be done. With all the hype surrounding the Broncos and their potential it is easy to get consumed by it and what was witnessed last night was not something fans, players and coaches want to see again. Luckily it’s only preseason and this should just be a learning experience for the team and motivation to keep working. Quick high/lowlights: Julius Thomas made a great 20-yard catch however the ball was stripped by Brandon Browner. Manning to Julius Thomas again with 31 yard gain but Manning was sacked by Bobby Wagner. Welker touchdown end of the first, crashing through three defenders to make the touchdown. Seattle got a kickoff return touchdown J. Kearse for 107 yards Ronnie Hillman dives to make a touchdown and drops the ball which was recovered by Seattle B. Browner 106 yard touchdown O’Brien Schofield stripped the ball from Brock Osweiler which eventually lead to a Seattle touchdown. Quick injury update: Lois Vasquez suffered a knee injury in the second quarter. Wolfe injured on a tackle in the first quarter and tested negative for a cervical spine injury he was able to fly home with the team. Champ Bailey was walking in crutches and a boot after (rw) the game in which x-rays were negative for an ankle injury but he will take an MRI to see if it is a foot injury. Wes Welker also had a right ankle sprain. It was great to see the connection between Manning and Welker and seeing that potential of what is hopefully to come this season, being that his ankle injury is nothing serious. Wes Welker (Photo Credit: Denver Broncos) Clearly the biggest problem Denver had offensively was keeping hold of the ball. J. Thomas and Hillman are two guys that Denver had seemed to plan to rely on. J. Thomas is a guy that could be used to confuse opposing teams just because of the fact that he is a tight end and someone different from Welker, Thomas and Decker. Especially if Welker’s injury becomes more serious (let’s hope it isn’t) we need a guy like J. Thomas. Ronnie Hillman also is, at this point, Denver’s running game and he needs to be able to push through lineman while keeping control of the ball; that it is his main job. As far as the Denver defense goes I was not impressed either. They restricted Seattle to 4.2 yards per rushing play and 9.7 yards per passing play while Seattle was able to limit Denver to 2.7 and 6.1 respectively. Seattle was able to get 4 sacks on Denver, proving that our offensive line needs to change a few things as well. Having the possibility of Wolfe and Vasquez both being injured doesn’t help either but lets hope they will be healthy soon and be able to put in a lot of improvements before September 5th (18 days). I wish I had better news to report. Keep an eye on Broncos news this week as whatever injury updates and progress is made will be crucial to how the team does this year.
