Michael Johnson, Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlap base an outstanding defensive front. There are going to be big numbers from these guys as they wreck pockets and hurry quarterbacks. Sure, there were some containment issues during the Redskins game where the defensive ends were crashing when they should have been maintaining the edge. All in all though they were disruptive and should have allowed the linebackers and secondary the freedom to make plays.
This is where there is the disconnect. The linebackers are not roaming and making plays and the secondary seems soft.
We are not going to pick on any particular player but it seems like the scheme or reads are not working in this defense. Opposing tight ends are allowed to freely roam about 10 – 15 yds down the middle of the field and this keeps drives alive and outlets for the quarterbacks.
With the amount of pressure up front, the secondary only needs a short time to cover down field and they are failing.
Maybe this is because of the ...

Bengals’ Michael Johnson finally breaking out in 2012
At 6’7’’ 271 pounds with a 4.75 forty and 38½ inch vertical leap in the 2009 NFL combine; Michael Johnson of the Cincinnati Bengals was one of the biggest pass rushing prospects coming out of the combine. Johnson was a very rare talent with incredible tangibles that placed him on the radar of most scouts predicting he would be drafted in the first round in 2009. Instead of...
Crock’s Back; Lee Out
With Nate Clements in a walking boot, Leon Hall nursing a hammy, Jason Allen down-again! and Dre Kirkpatrick still out, the Bengals had an alarming lack of depth in the secondary. The only healthy corners as of this writing are Adam Jones and Terence Newman.
Sweet.
So, when considering the alternatives (none), the Bengals brought back safety Chris Crocker. They made room for...
WDW Episode 82 – Did the Bengals Borrow Another Team’s Playbook?
The Bengals lined up on the first play of the game, in the Wildcat? Maybe we should call that the Bengal formation instead? Did the Bengals playbook get left back at PBS on Sunday? Wildcat? A fake field goal? Who are these Bengals? Either way, it was a welcomed sight for some of us! Many of us were wondering “well it’s about time!”. The Bengals emerged victorious 38-31 last...
Bengals sign S Chris Crocker
The Bengals signed free agent Chris Crocker on Thursday, bringing back a veteran who can help solve some of their problems at safety.
The Bengals (2-1) have made several switches at safety in the opening games. Their defense ranks 29th in the league heading into a game Sunday at Jacksonville (1-2).
Crocker signed with the Bengals during the 2008 season and became a mainstay. He...
Hot Cincinnati Bengals Cheerleaders (Pictures)
Hot Cincinnati Bengals Cheerleaders. Today we continue with the second team in the AFC North with the ladies of the Bengals. The girls in stripes are looking healthy and somewhat out of the blue the football team is looking good too. Not used to seeing a good team in Cincinnati in my day, but maybe that's one of the reasons the girls are following along. Check out the...
WR Sanu shows off arm in NFL
With one perfect throw, Bengals rookie receiver Mohamed Sanu Bengals showed the NFL that he can really sling it.
Sanu lined up in a wildcat formation, took the snap and threw a 73-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Green on Cincinnati's first play during a 38-31 win in Washington last Sunday.
It was something totally new for the Bengals (2-1), who hadn't gotten a completed pass...
Cincinnati Bengals: Week 4 NFL Power Rankings (#21)
Last week: 29 (+8)
Record: 2-1
The Bengals, my original pick to go from out of the playoffs to 5 wins or fewer, are still in the running. I had them doing do because I thought they were the worst of the 12 playoff teams last season (other than Denver, who added Peyton Manning). Andy Dalton can move the ball well against crappy defenses like Cleveland and Washington, but he’s still...
Bengals bring back Crocker, drop Lee
Safety Chris Crocker was re-signed by the Cincinnati Bengals. The 10th-year player signed with the Bengals during the 2008 season and was with the team through last season, starting every game in 2011. Tight end Donald Lee had his contract terminated by the Bengals. The 10th-year veteran was inactive for each of the first three games this season.
Bengals CB Adam Jones Says He Was Fined By The NFL
Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam Jones tweeted on Wednesday that he received a fine from the NFL, from what we're assuming was a horse-collar tackle early in the third quarter, dragging Redskins running back Alfred Morris down by the back of his collar.

Bengals Re-Sign DB Chris Crocker
The Bengals re-signed safety Chris Crocker Thursday. Crocker was cut this spring because he was behind in his recovery coming off knee surgery last year. Apparently he is back to a level where he can play in the NFL again Source: CBSSports Attached Thumbnails
Injuries Keep Bengals CB's Nate Clements, Leon Hall From Practicing
The Bengals began on-field preparations for Sundays game against Jacksonville without starting cornerbacks Leon Hall and Nate Clements.
Both did not practice Wednesday.
Hall was a late scratch Sunday against the Redskins with what was initially believed to be a left calf injury. An MRI has since determined that its a hamstring injury. The injury is on the same leg as the...
Bengals Coach Marvin Lewis Can See Greatness in Andy Dalton
Second-year quarterback Andy Dalton led the Cincinnati Bengals (2-1) into FedEx Field on Sunday to light up the scoreboard, and the Washington Redskins in a 38-31 victory in Landover, MD. Dalton completed 19 out of 27 attempts for 328 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.
But Dalton and his young Thundercats orchestrated a brilliant offensive performance that was at...

Man-crush alert! Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green is an absolute beast. Right now he’s the number one WR in the fantasy game. He may not stay at number one because of a guy called ‘Megatron’, but he’ll certainly be Top 5, probably Top 3.

Pick of the week: Bengals (-2.5) at Jaguars
Nothing is clear in the early weeks of the season. Super Bowl contenders are below .500, teams destined for last place are unbeaten and we have spent more time talking about the officiating than the actual on-field product. But we have learnt a few things, and therefore we are allowed to extrapolate and make sweeping remarks based on what we think we know after three...
