At 2-3 are the Green Bay Packers in trouble?Last season the Packers survived off the arm of Aaron Rodgers who threw 45 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions. Thus far in 2012, Rodgers has only 10 touchdowns to 4 interceptions, which projects him to have approximately 32 touchdowns and 13 interceptions on the season. Those stats are not the stats a winning team can have when surviving on the pass alone. This year is a different looking Packer team. This season the Packers improved their 32nd ranked defense of a year ago to the 16th rank defense. The offense, however, has declined. Last season the Green Bay offense averaged 405 yards a game and put up a whopping 560 points. This season the 21st ranked Green Bay offense averages only 338 yards a game and has put up 112 points. If the offense stays on pace they’ll score only 358 points this year; for all you math wizards out there that 202 points less then the previous season, a 36-percent decline in offensive point production. To add to that, the list of Packers getting injured is something to worry about. B.J. Raji, Greg Jennings, Jermichael Finley, and Cedric Benson are all big impact players have gotten hurt thus far. Three of those four players are weapons for Aaron Rodgers, and their absence hurts the offense.I’m sure we all have at least a faint memory of the 2011 15-1 Green Bay Packers, but that team is long gone. This 2012 version seems like an average team with an above-average quarterback who's underachieving. If you look at the Packers’ division foes, with the 4-1 Vikings, 4-1 Bears, and 1-3 Lions, there is definitely reason to worry. The Vikings are surprising everyone this season and, unless they have a late season collapse, it’s likely they’ll be competing for a playoff spot. The Bears look primed to take the division this year, with a vitalized offense and yet again another infamous and dominating defense. The Lions, despite their record, were also in the playoffs last season, and they’re loaded with talent, so don’t expect them to just lay down either. If you’re a Packer fan I advise in investing in a Fathead room like the one Clay Matthews has, or maybe comforting yourself in Pizza Hut on game days like Aaron Rodgers. If worst comes to worst, you can always discount double-check 2010 when your team won the Super Bowl, because it’s doubtful they'll do that this season, let alone make the playoffs.
