Miami Dolphins coach Tony Sparano could be re-evaluated if the team remains winless with a home loss to the Denver Broncos this week, the Miami Herald reported Wednesday.

The report cited a source close to owner Stephen Ross that indicated Sparano's job is not secure as may have been believed. Miami (0-5) is one of three winless teams in the NFL.

It was believed that Sparano would remain the coach for the rest of the season when the Dolphins did not make a change following a loss at San Diego on Oct. 2 that dropped Miami to 0-4 heading into its bye week.

The Dolphins lost Monday to the New York Jets. On Sunday, they are planning a ceremony honoring the 2008 University of Florida national championship team which was led by Tim Tebow, who will be Denver's starting quarterback.

Sparano is 14-23 in two-plus years as Dolphins coach. A possible interim replacement is defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, who coached the San Francisco 49ers for four years.

During the offseason, the Dolphins actively pursued Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh, who ended up with the 49ers. Shortly thereafter, Sparano received a two-year contract extension through 2013 after Ross and general manager Jeff Ireland ackowledged that the situation was handled poorly.
