The Miami Dolphins made a move that was expected official yesterday when they placed offensive lineman Jake Long on season-ending injured reserve yesterday. Roster Moves | Dolphins sign OT Patrick Brown and S Tyrone Culver. Also, Jake Long has been placed on IR & DB Anderson Russell was released. — Miami Dolphins (@MiamiDolphins) December 4, 2012 It was reported following the Dolphins’ 23-16 loss to the New England Patriots that it was feared Long has suffered a torn triceps. It is the same injury that ended the offensive lineman’s 2011-12 season, and it will also bring a halt his 2012-13 campaign. A former first-overall pick in the NFL Draft, Long didn’t play well this season. It was awful timing for the offensive lineman, as his rookie deal expires following the end of the season. He could reach free agency or the Dolphins could elect to place the $15 million franchise tag. However, given Long’s poor production this season there’s a chance he’s played his last snap for Miami.
