Jamar Taylor Second-round pick CB Jamar Taylor is “not in the plans right now” for the Dolphins defense. according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. Taylor underwent hernia surgery, which has forced him to miss several weeks of practice. Salguero adds that Taylor could be in the team’s plans some point later in the year. Charles Clay OC Mike Sherman announced that Charles Clay will be the Dolphins starting tight end now that Dustin Keller is out for the season. “You’d have to give the nod to Clay as the starter,” Sherman said, via the Palm Beach Post. “He’ll play in a bunch of different packages.“ Miami also has Dion Sims, Michael Egnew and Kyle Miller on their roster at the tight end position. Clay probably offers more in terms of versatility, but I wouldn’t rule out possibly adding someone off of waivers in the coming days. One speculative option could be D.J. Williams of the Packers, who is rumored to be on the chopping block. Mike Gillislee Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald writes that fifth-round pick RB Mike Gillislee and Jonas Gray are likely competing for one job. Salguero adds that the better player over the next two weeks will likely secure the roster spot with the hope of the loser going unclaimed and ending up on the practice squad. Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas appear to be entrenched as the team’s top-two running backs. Roster Cuts Dolphins waived/released G Jeff Braun, G Chandler Burden, DT Chris Burnette, LB Alonzo Highsmith & WR Kenny Stafford on Friday. Miami’s roster is currently 84 players, but will need to be reduced to 75 by Tuesday afternoon.
