According to a report from the Palm Beach Post, the Miami Dolphins, who traded up in order to select Dion Jordan #3 overall in the 2013 NFL Draft, plan on using the rookie defensive end as a third-down pass rushing specialist in his first year. This is simply mind-boggling if this is truly the case. It would be one thing if this was a quarterback we were talking about and a team wanted to groom him for later in the year, but to waste resources to grab someone who will play sparingly on defense? The Dolphins could have easily waited until the 12th pick and taken Björn Werner and done the same thing with him. For what it is worth, Jordan wasn’t on the field that often while at Oregon either, so that may be some of the thought process within the Dolphins organization. The Dolphins made so many moves this past offseason to improve the quality of their roster, and it seemed like this draft left them with a great opportunity to grab an immediate impact player in the first round, and Jordan doesn’t exactly fit that bill.
