The Patriots found points hard to come by in their AFC East-clinching win over the Dolphins in Week 13. But they did find success on the ground, however, especially late in the game.
Up 20-13 with a little over eight minutes remaining, the Pats went on a 77-yard march that took 7:18 off the clock and, with a swift field goal, ensured their ninth victory.
On that 16-play drive, New England ran the ball 13 times, methodically moving down the field with a 4.3 yards-per-carry average. Of the 13 runs, six were the exact same -- a dive over left guard.
Miami was powerless to stop it, and now they can't stop complaining about it.
“It really (ticked) me off,” Tony McDaniel said, via the Palm Beach Post. “It was disrespectful to us to run the same play over and over and be successful.
“Normally when somebody’s driving down the field you just think, ‘Well, they just had a good run there,’ but you run the same play over and over, as a competitor that (ticks) me off.”
