Atlanta-falcons-cornerback
Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post reports that the Miami Dolphins are “still in the mix” for free agent CB Brent Grimes. Over the weekend, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Dealer reported that Grimes is expected to be in the process of ”narrowing his choices” in the next few days. Grimes was reportedly impressed with the Browns following his recent visit, but the Falcons, and Buccaneers are also believed to in the running for his services as well. Grimes, 29, tore his Achilles tendon in Atlanta’s opener last season and spent the year on injured reserve. Given that he’s coming off of a serious injury, there’s a chance he could elect to play under a one-year deal with hopes of signing a long-term contract next offseason, which is exactly what LaRon Landry did following his own Achilles injury. We have Grimes listed as the No. 3 player in our recently updated Top 50 Free Agents list. The post Dolphins “Still In The Mix” For CB Brent Grimes appeared first on NFL Trade Rumors -.

Eric Winston wants to play for Dolphins, why haven’t they signed him?

The Miami Dolphins need to upgrade their offensive line.  If the season started today, Jonathan Martin would be their left tackle and Nate Garner would be their right tackle.  If that thought doesn’t scare you like a horror movie, then you might have drank too much this weekend.  The Dolphins obviously need to upgrade their offensive line.  There simply isn’t enough talent...

Miami Dolphins sign OLB Philip Wheeler

This random signing of a linebacker by the Dolphins wasn’t as bad as the Dannell Ellerbe atrocity. Wheeler played pretty well last season, grading out as ProFootballFocus’ 7th rated 4-3 outside linebacker, but you have to remember where he was a year ago. Last off-season, he didn’t even get a million dollars on a 1 year deal from the Raiders because he was only seen as a two...

McClure retiring after 14 seasons

Center Todd McClure will officially announce his retirement at a news conference Monday after spending his entire 14-year career with the Atlanta Falcons. The 36-year-old McClure said on Twitter, ''Hope I can get through it with out getting (too) choked up.'' He added a hashtag with ''falcon4life.'' While McClure had hoped to play another year or...

Miami Dolphins re-sign S Chris Clemons

Clemons is an unheralded player, but he graded out positively both against the run and in coverage last year. He barely played in 2011 and struggled in his first two years in the league after the Dolphins took him in the 5th round of the 2009 NFL Draft, so credit the Dolphins for not committing too much long term to him. With this deal, he’ll have to prove it again and he should...

Former West Virginia star and Miami Dolphins 2nd round pick Pat White is trying to make a comeback, and it seems he impressed a very important coach during his workout at West Virginia’s Pro Day. White told USA Today that he and 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh had a conversation following that workout, and that a private workout for San Francisco will be scheduled for sometime in the...

Report: Dolphins have some interest in Dwight Freeney

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter via Evan Silva, the Miami Dolphins have some interest in free agent defensive end Dwight Freeney. Schefter didn’t elaborate, but the Fins could provide competition for the Broncos, who want Freeney to help replace Elvis Dumervil. Freeney is 33 years old and coming off a five-sack season. Because Von Miller and Cameron Wake generally play the...

Falcons’ Defensive Staff Went to Clemson to Learn to Stop Read-Option Offense

During the offseason, many NFL players will go back to college to earn their degrees if they skipped out of school early to enter the league. This winter, the Falcons’ defensive staff went to Clemson University for a different reason — and no, they didn’t go streaking to the quad like Will Ferrell in Old School. With quarterbacks like Robert Griffin III, Cam Newton, Colin...
