The Miami Dolphins possibly lost one of the team’s new offensive weapons during Saturday night’s exhibition game against the Houston Texans. Starting tight end Dustin Keller could be lost for the season after suffered what appears to be a serious right knee injury playing well into the second quarter. At this time it is uncertain if Keller tore ligaments in his right knee. Texans safety D.J. Swearinger’s helmet hit Keller on the knee and his body buckled. Keller who signed a one-year deal worth $4.25 million this offseason was carted off the field during the second quarter. His possible season-ending injury means rookie Dion Sims and Charles Clay will likely have their roles elevated and the development of Michael Egnew a second-round pick who was on the bubble to make Miami’s 53-man roster becomes critical because the former Missouri standout could potentially develop into the pass catching specialist Keller was.
