Dolphins WR Armon Binns is out for the entire 2013 season with an ACL/MCL tear,
according to Mike Wilkening of NBC Sports. The 23 year old was claimed off
waivers by Miami in 2012 after starting 5 games early in the season for Cincinnati.
The injury occurred on Sunday leaving
the Dolphins relatively thin at the wide receiver position.
expected to compete for time at the slot receiver position with newly acquired WR
Brandon Gibson. Instead, that opportunity will likely lie with WR Marvin McNutt.
It is unknown at this time whether or not Miami actually will promote from
within, but it is a strong possibility. It is also possible that the Dolphins
will look again to the trade market or free agency pool for further talent at
the wide receiver position. Management certainly hasn’t shied away from that
course of action in the recent past.
of their approach, it is imperative that the Dolphins give Ryan Tannehill as
many weapons as possible for him to continue his progression this season. Tannehill
showed a great deal of promise last year and the team has rightfully gone to
great lengths this offseason to put talent around him.
