The Miami Dolphins parted ways with 2006 first-round pick Jason Allen on Wednesday, releasing the former starter to make room for recently signed cornerback Al Harris.
Dolphins finally end their relationship with Jason Allen.
Allen, who started seven of the team’s eight games this season, contributed 32 tackles and leads the team with eight pass breakups, and three interceptions.
Allen was also one of the team’s better special teams players, but he had been struggling of late, which isn’t too surprising considering he’d struggled to live up to his first-round status.
Allen, who unseated one of the boundary cornerback spots during the exhibition season, was recently overtaken by Sean Smith for the spot opposite Vontae Davis.
In other news, two starts sat out Wednesday’s practice, which is the team’s first opportunity to prepare for Sunday’s home game against the Tennessee Titans.
