Chicago Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton had some choice words for the Detroit Lions on Wednesday, calling them a dirty team both on offense and defense. In particular, Melton said Detroit’s offensive linemen talk trash and throw cheap shots. He singled out Lions center Dominic Raiola, calling him “old” and accusing him of using cuss words and playing dirty. Needless to say, the comments did not sit well with Raiola. “Who? Who?” Raiola said Thursday according to the Detroit Free Press. “Exactly. You got a defense full of superstars, and you don’t hear from the guys that carry weight in my book. (Brian) Urlacher, (Lance) Briggs, (Charles) Tillman, (Israel) Idonije, older guys. (Julius) Peppers. The guys that have been there. We’re talking about guys who carry weight. This guy? Not in my book.” Melton is in his fourth NFL season and was recently named to the NFC Pro Bowl roster. He may not have as much pull in the locker room as some of the aforementioned veterans, but he’s obvious...

Bears DT Henry Melton: Lions are a dirty team

The Detroit Lions are used to be calling dirty on defense by now, and it hardly seems to bother them. Ndamukong Suh has worked hard to earn that reputation with plays like this one, but it’s less common to hear an opponent accuse the Lions of dirty play on offense. According to Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton, Detroit is just an all-around dirty team. “Dirty. They’re dirty...

Bears safety Major Wright on Matt Stafford: “you put a little pressure on him he kind of folds”

In anticipation of the Chicago Bears regular season finale with the Detroit Lions, Bears safety Major Wright offered some insight on what it takes to stop Lions QB Matt Stafford, and it’s quite simple and expected from every defense. Pressure. Wright feels the more pressure you put on Stafford, the more he behaves like something akin to a lawn chair. “You put a little pressure...

Year in Review: Detroit Lions

Three very odd plays sum up the frustration that consumed the Detroit Lions in 2012: Sept. 23 at Tennessee: Trailing by three points in overtime, the Lions faced a fourth-and-1 at the Titans 7-yard line. The plan was to line up and try to draw the defense offsides. But center Dominic Raiola somehow didnt get the word and snapped the ball by mistake. Quarterback Shaun Hill failed...

Bears place five on Pro Bowl squad

Chicago Bears starting cornerbacks Tim Jennings and Charles Tillman headline a group of four Bears players named to the NFC Pro Bowl team. Jennings and Tillman will be joined in Hawaii by wide receiver Brandon Marshall and defensive lineman Julius Peppers and Henry Melton. All five players were selected as starters for the NFC. Jennings and Tillman enjoyed strong seasons [...]

Brandon Pettigrew Returns To Practice Friday

Detroit tight end Brandon Pettigrew returned to practice Friday for the first time since suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 14. SOURCE: Tim Twentyman, DetroitLions.comFantasy Spin:Pettigrew (57-556-3) has missed the last three games and is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears. The 4-11 Lions have no incentive to push Pettigrew for the final game of the season.

Ndamukong Suh responds to Warren Sapp: Teach me how to be better

Ndamukong Suh is used to hearing criticism from the fans and media for his style of play. That is all part of the nature of playing in the NFL, as is being ripped by analysts and former players. Warren Sapp is one former player that was recently hard on the Detroit Lions defensive tackle, saying he is wasting his talent. Rather than criticizing him, Suh feels as though Sapp should...

Bears call Lions dirty and say Stafford “folds under pressure”

Much of the 2012 season has been clockwork for the Detroit Lions. It started with an ugly offseason that saw what seemed to be a monthly occurrence of off the field trouble for the players. This was followed by a season in which the Lions developed very innovative ways of losing football games from allowing a rookie quarterback to pick apart the secondary in the closing minutes of...

Rotowire Injury Analysis: Fantasy Football Week 16

Week 16 Injury Analysis report is here although I am pretty sure most of your fantasy seasons have come to an end and a champion has been crowned.  However, there are some leagues that go until the very final week of the season although I personally am not a fan of these as it punishes teams who have players without a lot to play for in the final week.   This information instead...
