According to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter Tom Silverstein, Donald Driver announced on Thursday that he will retire. “It was just time, sitting down with the wife and kids,” said Driver, who was taking part in a charity event here at Super Bowl XLVII. “I’ve always said I never want to wear another uniform. I’ve always said that I owe it to the fans to retire as a Packer. After fourteen humble seasons with the Green Bay Packers, including a Super Bowl win (2010 season), the optimistic leader knows that the Packers won’t re-sign him and is firm about not putting on a different team’s colors. Although Driver finishes his career No. 1 on the Packers all-time list in receptions (734), receiving yards (10,137) and 1000-yard seasons (seven), the seventh round draft pick accomplished a desirable feat that many players in the NFL dream about: retire with the team that drafted them.
