Double Standard for black and white celebrities?

First off, I am not racist many of my friends are black and I grew up in a racially mixed part of town. Now, I dont have to tell you what Vick did, if you dont know you apparently dont pay attention to sports. Now a few months ago Don Imus made a racial comment about a female basketball team who was predomanantly black. The NAACP was ready to stage a full protest against Imus unless he was fired from his posistion. Well Imus was fired a blemish was set upon his career, which I believe was justified. Now I hear the very same NAACP talking about how Vick should be able to keep his career and people are wrong to judge him. Let me just clarify being a bigot is not against the law, dogfighting is. So why is it that the person who broke the law should be defended and forgiven as the person who spoke his mind in an unsensitive way lost his job and arguablly his career. Thats just on my mind, feel free to tell me what you think on this matter.
