Found October 26, 2012 on Fox Sports:
Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Jason Jones is doubtful to play against the Detroit Lions on Sunday with an ankle injury. Jones has been unable to practice all week after suffering the injury against the San Francisco 49ers last Thursday night. Jones has 2 1/2 sacks on the season primarily as a situational pass rusher. If he's unable to play, rookie Greg Scruggs will pick up the additional workload for Seattle. Scruggs earned his first career sack last week against the 49ers. Receiver Doug Baldwin (ankle) and cornerback Byron Maxwell (hamstring) have been ruled out. Guard John Moffitt is listed as questionable with a knee injury but isn't expected to start even if he's able to play. Moffitt has missed the last four games.

Second and third year player development: week 7

In this weekly column, I explore some young players who haven’t made much of a consistent impact to date.  Some players may be available on your waiver wire, some may be available via a cheap or moderate trade.  Acquiring any of these players could decide how well your dynasty or keeper team does for the next few years.  I will focus on their most recent matchup to draw the...

A Seahawks fan’s take on politics

This week’s article should be something pertaining to how the Seattle Seahawks playoff hopes are gone since they have lost to every team in the NFC West. Then again now could also be the time to ask if the clock is ticking on Pete Carroll’s time in Seattle. Compelling as these topics are, plenty of other writers will pen commentary on them. Readers of The Penalty Flag expect...

Seattle Seahawks versus Detroit Lions could come down to Optimus Prime vs. Megatron

Man, it already feels like it’s been forever since the Seahawks last played. Sure it’s been less than a week, but that doesn’t stop it from feeling like a long time. Part of that feeling is most likely due to a desire to leave the last game the Seahawks played. I’m not saying that the Seahawks didn’t play well last Thursday night against the San Francisco 49ers. All I...

Seahawks Richard Sherman changes Twitter handle to Optimus Prime

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is on a mission to validate his franchise as a serious contender. Well Seattle takes on Detroit at 1:00 this Sunday, and Sherman decided to go Transformers on us. We all know Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson carries the Label Megatron, and carries it very well. Well I’m assuming Sherman wants Johnson to know he is his equal because...

Seattle's limited passing game tough to judge

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By TIM BOOTH AP Sports Writer For all the scrutiny that rookie quarterback Russell Wilson has received as the Seattle Seahawks' starting quarterback, the limited number of times he's thrown has made it difficult to fully assess how the first seven weeks of his career have gone. Ultimately, Seattle is 4-3 heading into Sunday's game at Detroit and...

Calvin Johnson not phased by Richard Sherman changing his Twitter name to Optimus Prime

This week Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman changed his Twitter name to Optimus Prime, since he’ll be in charge of covering Calvin Johnson aka Megatron, for Sunday’s game against the … Continue reading »

Seattle Seahawks: Hidden Jewels in the Emerald City

I must admit, I didn't have high expectations for the Seattle Seahawks entering the 2012 NFL season. The Seahawks were one of three also-rans (Arizona Cardinals and St. Louis Rams are the other two teams) in the NFC West, which I thought would be the worst division in the league. The San Francisco 49ers (13-3 in 2011) would easily have their way with the rest of the teams and...

Seahawks CB gets new Twitter handle

Since he will be matched up with Calvin Johnson (a/k/a Megatron) on Sunday, Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman changed his Twitter handle to "Optimus Prime."

Five Seattle Seahawks who must impress vs. Lions on Sunday

On the road again The Seattle Seahawks are on the road this week, taking on the Detroit Lions. Both teams are reeling from painful losses to division opponents last week and each is looking to make some moves in their respective divisions. With lots on the line for both teams, this could be a very physical game – especially with the highlighted matchup between Richard Sherman and...

NFL Rumors: Did Richard Sherman Wake A Sleeping Giant In Calvin Johnson With Transformers Remark?

Richard Sherman talks a big game. He did it against Tom Brady. He will do it with any player. Sherman and his Seattle Seahawks secondary has been stellar in 2012, and they will look to continue their run against another once vaunted pass offense in the Detroit Lions. But Sherman may have done something that is ill advised. He may have woken a sleeping giant. Well, not a real giant...

Seattle Seahawks at Detroit Lions: Week 8 NFL Pick

Seattle Seahawks (4-3) at Detroit Lions (2-4) I feel like I say this about the Seahawks every week when I pick their game, but I love picking their games because they have such a big home/road disparity. On the road, they are 16-29 ATS since 2007, as opposed to 30-14 ATS at home. As dogs, [...]
