With the Indianapolis Colts likely switching to a 3-4 defense with the hiring of former Steelers linebackers coach Keith Butler as their new defensive coordinator, look for defensive end Dwight Freeney to like get traded or released.
Since Freeney will be going into the final year of his current contract, if the Colts decide to trade or release him they would save a lot of money under the cap because there wouldn’t be a signing bonus acceleration in the final year of his deal.
The 31 year-old Freeney will likely be playing in a whole other city in 2012.

Jim Irsay Talks To Hannah Storm About Getting Drunk, Being A #Drunkie, And Taking Pills…
Jim Irsay was a #alchi/#drunkie for about 10 years. Figures why he only got 1 Super Bowl ring out of a Peyton Manning. Well Jim Irsay had a sit down with Hannah Storm (which will fully air on Tuesday) and during the ESPN preview; busted out the best line I have ever heard about being a #drunkie…

Redskins Interested in Peyton Manning If He Becomes Available
According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, a person with knowledge of the situation has confirmed that the Redskins would be interested in Colts quarterback Peyton Manning if he becomes available.
At this point there are a lot of things to consider before Manning ends up playing in another city besides Indianapolis.

Jim Irsay is Certifiably Nuts!
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has already jettisonedformer chairman Bill Polian. Is 'franchise' quarterback Peyton Manning next to go? Maybe it’s me, but I’m still trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with ‘certifiably nuts’ Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay.First Irsay surprises everyone around the league – and on his own team by firing longtime vice...
Peyton Manning Should Listen To Rob Lowe & Retire, Its Time
Rob Lowe could have jumped the gun when he said Peyton Manning is going to retire in the off-season. I think it is time for the warhorse who has had a great career to hang up his cleats and go out while he is still able to function. Manning and Jim Irsay are even at odds. I know they will tell you they are on the same page, truth be told Manning is clearly upset with the changes...
Colts Eye Steelers LB Coach Keith Butler for Defensive Coordinator
Reports differ regarding how certain it is that Steelers linebackers coach Keith Butler will be joining the Indianapolis Colts as the team's new defensive coordinator. ESPN's Paul Kuharsky suggests that the deal is all but done, and that Butler merely needs to land in Indianapolis on Tuesday to go over contract details and sign on the dotted line. The NFL's Jason LaCanfora...
Moments in Time
Colts Authority reader matt_has wrote a piece that offers a different perspective regarding Peyton Manning's future with the Colts. This is another excellent piece we thought readers would enjoy on the front page.
Preface: I can see both sides of the Manning/Luck debate, but I expect Manning to be cut. With that expectation in mind, this is primarily a therapeutic release for...
Irsay: No Peyton talk before Super Bowl (AP)
Jim Irsay did his own politicking Monday. Instead of talking about Peyton Manning and the franchise quarterback's future in Indianapolis, the Colts owner quickly tossed the football to a real politician. "When I was asked about Peyton, I was going to say why don't you ask Mitch (Daniels) about his presidential run?
Butler to stay with Steelers
The Indianapolis Colts have already filled one coordinator position with a former Steelers assistant coach. But they are not going to fill the other that way. Linebackers coach Keith Butler has decided against interviewing for the defensive coordinator position with the Colts and is going to remain with the Steelers, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has learned.
Peyton Manning knew little brother Eli was a champ
Peyton Manning called it. Back when the NFL was debating the merits of Eli Manning and whether he had what it took to win a Super Bowl, Big Brother took time out of his morning-after news conference five years ago to say Eli would be on the same stage soon.

The 57-year-old Caldwell was fired by the Colts on Jan. 17 following a 2-14 season. He went 26-22 in three years with Indianapolis, including a Super Bowl appearance.
