Over the past five seasons, the NFL has become a pass heavy league. GM and Head Coaching positions essentially live and die by their team’s record. The quarterback position often dictates if a team can make it to the playoffs (unless of course you have Adrian Peterson and then don’t fumble the snap and try to convert on third down). Quarterbacks have been drafted early and often the past few years. In 2011, there were six quarterbacks selected in the first 36 draft picks. Cam Newton was the 2011 overall first pick and was a highly touted recruit who had led the Auburn Tigers to the BCS National Championship and won the Heisman Trophy. Colin Kaepernick led his team to a WAC title and also was one of three NFL bound quarterbacks to rush for 20 touchdowns and pass for 20 touchdowns in the same season. The other two quarterbacks who share that honor are Tim Tebow and Newton. Let’s take a closer look at each quarterback and decide which quarterback is more worthy of his current draft pos...

The San Francisco 49ers have been pedal to the metal all offseason. They traded for receiver Anquan Boldin, signed cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, and traded Alex Smith.
As the draft nears, GM Trent Baalke will be looking to replenish his defensive line that lost a few solid players via free agency, and in a deep draft for quality linemen, he can do just that.
The 49ers need help...
The 2013 NFL draft is days away for the San Francisco 49ers, and I predict a lot of trades on draft day, because the 49ers have so many picks this year. They have 14 picks, and for a franchise that isn’t rebuilding that’s a problem, because you don’t want lots of talent that other teams will wait to scoop up after final cuts come in August. I have predicted three trades on...
Everyone remembers how Colin Kaepernick took over for the injured Alex Smith midway through the 2012 season and led the San Francisco 49ers and the team’s fans on a magical ride right through the Super Bowl in February.
There have been a few free agency defections from the roster that finished just a few yards away from winning the Super Bowl after the 2012 season. But for the...
The 2013 NFL season feels like it’s drawing closer with the official release of the 49ers schedule. TiqIQ gears up for the New Year by taking a close look at San Francisco 49ers and their top-priced games as well as their best value games. The San Francisco 49ers are likely going to be a hot ticket at home and on the road this season, as they’re coming off of a Super Bowl appearance...
Former Mississippi State and current San Francisco 49ers running back Anthony Dixon was in Starkville this weekend for the Bulldogs' spring game and festivities surrounding said spring game. All appeared to be going well, as Dixon even got in the spring game and scored a touchdown in street clothes, until Saturday night when Dixon, along with many others apparently, was denied...
The San Francisco 49ers enter the 2013 season as one of the favorites to come out of the NFC and make a return trip to the Super Bowl. They have weapons on both sides of the ball and consistently play tough, inspired football for coach Jim Harbaugh. They took another step forward as being the team to beat by the off-season signings of Anquan Boldin and Nnamdi Asomugha. Boldin provides...
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen doesn’t believe Alabama offensive lineman Chance Warmack will fall to the Carolina Panthers, who own the 14th overall pick in this week’s draft.

The post Mort: Chance Warmack won’t fall to the Panthers appeared first on Pro Football Zone.
With 13 draft picks, Trent Baalke has built quite the board of potential players. A board that is well prepped but could change quickly as the draft unfolds.
The San Francisco 49ers general manager has already fielded his share of calls from teams trying to boost their chances by acquiring some of those selections from the NFC champions.
''It's up to us to turn those...
We all remember the now-infamous blackout that occurred during this year's Super Bowl. Thanks to a faulty power supply (and Beyonce's literal lights out halftime performance), the Superdome faded to black like the end of "The Sopranos," sending the entire CBS crew into a frenzy.
It was at that point that Jim Nantz was ready to take matters into his own hands...
While other NFL teams are in search of quarterbacks and running backs, new Carolina general manager Dave Gettleman said the Panthers wouldn't mind walking away from the NFL draft with big offensive and defensive linemen.
Gettleman has worked in the NFL for more than a quarter century and to him ''hog mollies'' - a term of affection he uses for offensive and defensive...
