What a difference a week makes. If only every team in the NFL were more like the Kansas City Chiefs instead of the New Orleans Saints. The Eagles cruised pretty comfortably for most of the game with only an Ellis Hobbs poor coverage play and a couple of penalties being the only real blemishes on a nice performance.

The fact of the matter is, the Chiefs are an awful football team, but the Eagles still had to go out and beat them and they did that rather handily. A couple of Eagles stood out with great performances.

While much of the hype coming into the game was surrounding Mike Vick's return to the NFL, it was young Kevin Kolb making his second career start who stood out and played a great game. Kolb went 24-34 and reached 300 yards passing for the second straight week, ending the day with 327 and 2 TDs. Brent Celek appears to be Kolb's favorite target as they connected eight times for 104 yards. DeSean Jackson continues to be an absolutely filthy deep threat, tallying 149 yards on six receptions. Apparently his groin is just fine as he found it flexible enough to do a near split in the end zone after his touchdown.

The defense was hounding the line of scrimmage early, not allowing Larry Johnson to make anything happen and forcing Matt Cassell to throw. He is certainly no Drew Brees and the Eagles defense never really allowed the Chiefs to do anything aside from the one botched play by Ellis Hobbs.

The Eagles offense of the future looked pretty promising this afternoon. Shady McCoy can take an inch and turn it into a big play, reminiscent of the guy he will someday replace.

So the Eagles head into the bye week at 2-1 knowing that their backup QB can certainly come in and play adequately against teams like the Chiefs. Great win for the Birds today.

Who stood out in your mind today? I didn't single out any defensive guys because that unit as a whole was on point today.
