Happy Labor Day, Eagles fans! While many of you enjoy a day off, the Birds were back to practice after two days off, preparing for their regular season opener against the Browns in just six days.
The big story Monday is the fact that DE Jason Babin was a full participant in practice and says that he will play on Sunday. He missed all of the preseason after enduring a torn calf muscle at Lehigh on July 29. While the Eagles are stacked with talent on the defensive line, having Babin, coming off of a Pro Bowl 2011 season, back with Trent Cole in the starting rotation is a great sign for Philadelphia’s defense as it prepares for the 2012 season.
In other injury news, LB Casey Matthews, who suffered a high ankle sprain, also returned to practice. Wideout Riley Cooper is still recovering from his broken collarbone and has been unable to practice.
More practice squad additions
The Eagles added two more players to its practice squad on Sunday. You’ll recognize one of the names. WR B.J. Cun...

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Jason Babin returned to practice on Monday and should be good to go this week after dealing with a calf injury.
“Jason Babin returned to practice on Monday for the first time since suffering a calf injury on July 28. He expects to play Sunday against the Cleveland Browns with the same rotation as usual,” wrote the Philadelphia Inquirer...
Michael Vick was obviously on the team, so was 3rd round pick Nick Foles, even if he hadn’t stepped up in Mike Kafka’s absence and nailed down the #2 quarterback job, despite the team viewing him as a developmental 3rd quarterback at the start of the offseason. Kafka went from primary backup to injured to 3rd string and when he returned, he found that Trent Edwards...
The Eagles are two years removed from being at the top of the NFC East.Last year was the supposed "Dream Team" season with all the free agency signings including Asomugha, Babin, Jenkins and a whole lot more. After an 8-8 season and without a playoff win in the Vick era, fans and coaches are starved for another run into the playoffs. Before that is possible, they have to...
OTAs, training camp, preseason, and final cuts are all behind the Philadelphia Eagles today. The final cuts did include some surprises. Mike Kafka lost his job due to stellar play by both Nick Foles and Trent Edwards. Joselio Hanson was released, an apparent sign from the Eagles front office that they are trusting the young cornerbacks already on the team. All four running...
Brent Celek key weapon in Eagles offense
The 2012 Eagles will begin their road to the Super Bowl against the Cleveland Browns with expectations high. Will Michael Vick remain healthy? Can LeSean McCoy duplicate his success from last season? With his new big contract will DeSean Jackson play to his potential? These player questions along with the uncertain Eagles defense under...
Eagles Start Redemption Tour in Cleveland
Coming off a most disappointing 2011 campaign the highly regarded Philadelphia Eagles begin their 2012 NFL season this Sunday when they pay an inter-conference visit on the Cleveland Browns (1 pm Eastern, Fox).
What might we expect out of this year’s version of the Birds this week?
Philly began last year...
The Raiders continued to address their secondary by signing cornerback Joselio Hanson to a contract, today. Hanson had visited with the team yesterday. The team is likely to use Hanson as a slot corner with him working as the third corner behind Ron Bartell & Shawntae Spencer. Hanson used used as a slot corner in Philadelphia & was successful in that role. His release...
As we all sit and enjoy the coronation of the NBA’s next generational star, one cannot help but wonder what sports icon needs to learn from the King James experience. LeBron James needed to win a championship more than he wanted to win a championship, the same can be said about Philadelphia Eagles‘ quarterback, Michael Vick.
Much like James, Vick had the King Midas touch and...
