NFL teams are always looking for new ways to impress season-ticket holders, and convince those without to pony up the money and join the club. The Eagles think they may be onto something with the release of “augmented reality.”
It sounds cool and high-tech enough, but what does it do exactly?
Fans who are equipped with a smartphone (and the proper app) can unlock special video messages from players by steadily scanning their tickets using the phone’s video camera, an experience the club is excited to introduce.
“We are always trying to provide new features and experiences for our fans,” Eagles president Don Smolenski said in a release, via ProFootballTalk.com. “We think there’s a real wow factor when season ticket holders hold their smartphones over these tickets and watch them come to life, launching videos that showcase some of our fans’ favorite players.”
