Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Marlin Jackson had sports hernia surgery, further jeopardizing his career, CSNPhilly.com reported Wednesday.
The Eagles signed Jackson to a two-year contract last summer but he has yet to play a down for the club. He missed all of last season with a ruptured Achilles tendon.
A former first-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts, Jackson missed just three games in his first three seasons, collecting 227 tackles and three interceptions while helping the Colts win a Super Bowl.
But Jackson has played just 11 games over the last three years, undergoing a pair of ACL surgeries and the two more recent procedures.
Jackson was projected as a reserve defensive back used in nickel and dime packages.
