Cary Williams walked his talk. The fiery cornerback had an impressive debut with the Philadelphia Eagles after being in the spotlight for the wrong reasons throughout the summer. Williams signed a three-year, $17 million contract, including $10.5 million guaranteed, with the Eagles in the offseason after starting every game the last two seasons for the defending Super Bowl-champion Baltimore Ravens. He didn't make a positive first impression in Philadelphia, but made up for it in his first game. Williams had a sack, made a diving interception to give Robert Griffin III his first career two-pick game and later batted down a pass on a key third down in the Eagles' 33-27 win over the Washington Redskins on Monday night. --- Online: and --- Follow Rob Maaddi on Twitter:

Philadelphia Eagles: week 2 home opener

The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off of a week 1 performance that left fans both ecstatic about what the future holds, as well as with a cloud of concern over the Eagles’ inability to put the game away. Philly held on for the win, but not without some late game drama on the part of a 20-0 run by the Washington Redskins. The Eagles’ week 2 foes, the San Diego Chargers, are in...

Eagles' new-look defense quite impressive, too

While Chip Kelly's offense received most of the attention for a sensational start, the Philadelphia Eagles' defense also had an impressive debut. That's the bigger surprise. The Eagles were expected to score plenty of points with Michael Vick, LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson playing in Kelly's up-tempo offense. But the defense figured to have some growing pains...

Philadelphia Eagles: 2013 Week 2 NFL Power Rankings (#18)

Chip Kelly’s offense looked very good in its first real test against Washington, but I’ll need to see it against a better defense. Washington might have the worst secondary in the NFL. I believe the offensive line can’t continue its dominance as long as it’s healthy and that both LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson can continue to be serious weapons in Chip Kelly’s offense...

Chargers-Eagles Preview

The new version of the Philadelphia Eagles offense was a rousing success in the season opener - at least for 2 1/2 quarters.
