There are reasons head coach Andy Reid pushed for added depth at defensive end. That depth is about to get a stern test one week into training camp with right end Trent Cole injuring his shoulder Wednesday, two days after the team announced Pro Bowl left end Jason Babin would miss at least two weeks with a torn calf muscle. Reid had already insinuated former first-round pick Brandon Graham was under extra scrutiny to have a good training camp showing. That became amplified further when Babin, who had 18 sacks and three forced fumbles last season, was injured. There's now also a chance for rookie second-round pick Vinny Curry to get more meaningful reps. That's provided a lingering high ankle sprain doesn't become problematic, but Curry's strength has been evident in practices. Cole was injured Monday, Reid announced Wednesday morning. "Those guys now have an opportunity to get more reps," Reid said. "We always preach that every rep you get is...

Eagles' Babin out 2-3 weeks with muscle tear

Eagles left defensive end Jason Babin could miss most of training camp with a partially torn muscle in his left calf. An MRI exam revealed Babin has a second-degree strain, which occurred Saturday during a one-on-one pass-rushing drill against right tackle Todd Herremans. Babin was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2011 with 18 sacks and three forced fumbles after re-joining the...

Eagles Odds and Ends: Jason Babin Injured, Camp Fighting Fun and Edwards to Get Shot to Turn Heads

Jason Babin will likely miss 2-3 weeks and possibly three pre-season games after an MRI revealed a partially torn muscle in his left calf. The Eagles will not rush their Pro Bowl defensive end back into action making a pre-season appearance at all very unlikely. The last pre-season game against the New York Jets August 30 is the earliest Babin could return to game action. The...

Time to put up or shut up for the Philadelphia Eagles

The longest tenured coach in the NFL right now is Andy Reid. He has been the coach in Philadelphia since 1999. Since he has taken over the Eagles, they have won 6 division titles. Been to the NFC Championship game 5 times(which he is 1-4), and has made it to the Super Bowl just 1 time (which he lost to New England 24-21). Since 1999 the rival Giants have made it to the Super Bowl...

Philadelphia Eagles: Who’s Standing Out at Training Camp?

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid is running one of the toughest training camps in the NFL at Lehigh  University in Bethlehem, PA. He is working his team hard, with the hopes that this critical ground work will pay dividends in the 2012 season. With 90 men on the roster, it can be hard to single out just a few to highlight. Everyone is taking their play to the highest level...

Philadelphia Eagles lose another WR to injury: Ron Johnson dislocates ankle

Injury news is a part of every sport, particularly the NFL. But it’s a part of the game I never get used to. You hate to see any player injured, but it’s especially tough to see when it’s a player who had a chance. Wideout Ron Johnson absolutely had a chance until he went down on the field with an ankle injury on Monday. Johnson is a player that head coach Andy Reid mentioned...

Eagles getting hammered with TC injuries to defensive line...

Kinda makes you wonder if Andy Reid's Training Camp format may need to be adjusted in the future... but... for now, the initial damage is still containable...  The Eagles head into Thursday with their entire starting defensive line sidelined by injuries, a potentially troublesome situation if some guys don't recover as expected. But with Jason Babin (calf strain), Cullen...
