Now that the Draft is over and I have had some time to analyze the picks, I think that the Eagles draft staff did an OK job. Overall I would give them a "B" for their performance this weekend; that being said, there are defiantly some areas where I am not in agreement with their choices. They did not pick up a big standout WR like many of us have been hoping for, what they did do was to pick up a breakout slot receiver that can certainly help in the return game and might help a little on the offense. I don't think that the addition of a small slot type receiver, no mater how fast, is really what the team needs, but we will have to see how that works out.

and I don't think any of us would disagree that Steve Smith is a #1 receiver in the NFL. He has a lot of the same attributes when it comes to height (a little taller than Steve), quickness, trash talker, aggressiveness and exceptional hands. He has been making a conscious effort in gaining weight (up to 175 from 169lbs) so that is a good thing. Come training camp I figure him to be about 180-182 sopping wet. His punt returning skills are top notch and he could very well be the next Dante Hall (I refuse to make Devin Hester comparisons since it would be like comparing a top WR rookie wideout to Jerry Rice). So if he adds up to the "playmaker" he is thought to be, we all will be very happy to have him on our team (yet I'm still smashing my computer desk about us not drafting Limas Sweed haha). Overall I think the birds did a great job in finding good "football players" and time will tell how good of a draft we had.
