The Eagles won its first preseason game over the Steelers, 24-23, on Alex Henery’s kick on Thursday night at the Linc. Yet, only the starters played the first quarter, Michael Vick early into the second quarter, but here is a few observations. Too early to judge Vick on two series, yet he was largely ineffective until he got his thumb hurt early in the second quarter. The defense did not tackle well, wrapping up Steelers at the line, then letting them go to gain 14-yards and convert a third-down and long to a first down. DeMerco Ryan missed two tackles, one where he and Derek Landri couldn’t wrap up Steeler running back Chris Rainey, who went 14 yards on a third and 13. On the positive side, Nick Foles could be the second-string quarterback, hitting two touchdown passes. Yeah, they were against third-string Steelers, but his downfield vision was good. Also kudos to the fans, who gave Reid a warm reception following the death this week of his oldest son, Garrett.

QUICK SPIN: No Real Damage for Vick’s Hand…

Last night in the Eagles first preseason game their starting QB Michael Vick bashed his throwing hand off an offensive lineman's helmet on the follow through of an incomplete pass. It looked bad at that moment but fortunately X-Rays came back negative and Vick is expected to practice as early as Saturday.

Michael Vick leaves preseason opener with a thumb injury

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick left Thursday night’s preseason game early, after suffering a thumb injury to his throwing hand. The good news is that the x-rays came back negative.  I’m sure he has at least a sprain.  There’s always a possibility that there is ligament damage, but we won’t know unless he gets an MRI.

Time's Up

The other day in my Facebook stream (what, you think you get all of my content? I've got layers, man, layers), I mentioned that I was at the Eagles-Steelers preseason game. A guy that I haven't seen in 15 years then felt it was necessary to wish that someone would break Michael Vick's knees; this someone is, in fact, an Eagles fan, but "on strike" until Vick...

Falcon-Eyed: 5 Things I Want To See in Falcons vs. Ravens

First Off - Something I Don"t Want To See Tonight:     Well - that's if it were Matt Ryan, and not Michael Vick. If someone brought Michael Vick out into the middle of the field, slapped his old Falcons uniform on him, and broke his leg again...well...that'd be alright with me. Ultimately, just want to make sure everyone stays good and healthy for the next 21-22...

Philadelphia Eagles: Lack of Depth is a Concern Heading into 2012

Heading into the 2012 season the Philadelphia Eagles are lacking quality depth at a few key positions on offense. Injuries are a part of the game and a team must be prepared to face the worst case scenario. Here’s a look at three positions with a severe lack of experience behind the starter. The biggest area of concern is the depth at quarterback given Michael Vick’s the injury...

Thanks to the Backups, Eagles Edge Steelers in Preseason Opener

AP Photo/ Michael Perez In a game dedicated to Garrett Reid, it was the Eagles' third and fourth-stringers who saved the day.  If we didn't know any better, we would have thought Nick Foles and Trent Edwards were the first and second string quarterbacks. Michael Vick and Mike Kafka were dreadful as the first and second team offenses failed to score...
