NFL Injury Report:
The Philadelphia Eagles have named Nick Foles their starting
quarterback for the remainder of the season, even if veteran Michael Vick is
healthy enough to return, reports Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com.
"No. 1, I just think he's playing well enough to where
I think he can win football games for us," coach Andy Reid said, via The
Associated Press. "And No. 2, I think where we sit at this position in the
season, I think it's the right thing to do."
Reid said that his primary focus with Vick is to get him
healthy. While he added that the process to return from his concussion has “taken
a bit,” the veteran quarterback has been “working his tail off to try to get it
right.” Reid said he hopes that Vick can have a nice, long career here.”
We know that neither Vick, nor Reid for that matter, are
likely to have a career in Philadelphia beyond this season. For that reason it
makes sense for the Eagles to go with Foles, who showed promise in the
preseason, and see what they have in him as they continue to plan for the
