Eagles' Jason Kelce reveals Jalen Hurts' Super Bowl regret

Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce revealed quarterback Jalen Hurts remains haunted by his costly fumble in what became a 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII this past February.

"When you’re the guy — when you’re Jalen Hurts — I know the way he thinks, because we’ve talked about it, he still beats himself up for this play and that play," Kelce explained during a recent interview with JAKIB Sports, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. "I’m like, dude, you had the best performance ever by a quarterback in the history of the Super Bowl. You did just fine."

The Eagles held a 14-7 lead over the Chiefs with slightly under 10 minutes remaining in the first half of Super Bowl LVII when Hurts lost control of the football a few steps into a designed quarterback run. Kansas City's Nick Bolton quickly grabbed the bouncing ball and returned it 36 yards to the house for a touchdown, but the Eagles responded and entered halftime with a 24-14 lead.

Despite that one miscue, Hurts likely would've earned Super Bowl Most Valuable Player honors had Philadelphia won the game. The 24-year-old completed 27-of-38 pass attempts for 304 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions, and he also rushed for 70 yards and three scores.

According to Eagles insider Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Hurts became the first player in NFL history to throw for at least 300 yards, rush for a minimum of 70 yards, complete 70% of his passes and rush for three touchdowns in any meaningful game (regular season and postseason included).

The Eagles rewarded Hurts earlier this offseason with a five-year contract extension reportedly worth up to $255M with $179.3M guaranteed.

As of Tuesday evening, OddsChecker listed the Eagles as the betting favorites at +330 odds to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LVIII this coming February. At that same time, OddsChecker had Hurts listed fourth among betting favorites to earn regular-season MVP honors at +1400.
