After some unfounded rumors earlier in the offseason that the Philadelphia Eagles were interesting in trading wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, it now appears that they are willing to negotiate a contract extension with him.
Maclin is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and there has already been some talk between his reps and the team, reports Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
“I think I can only get better,” Maclin said. “I think it will be good for me to go out there and just play ball and let everything else take care of itself.”
Per Berman: 'The 2009 first-round pick has been a steady contributor for the Eagles, but has not yet recorded a 1,000-yard season. He said he wants to stay with the Eagles and his contract status will not be a distraction this season.'
