Ryan Harris - Another Eagles Free Agency Pick-Up

The Philadelphia Eagles have made one of the biggest splashes in free agency, pursuing and landing some of the biggest players. Both offensively and defensively, the Eagles have revamped their squad and are poised for a serious Super Bowl run. One player that has been left out of the hype, is the signing of Ex-Bronco Ryan Harris. Due to the lack of consistency Philadelphia has experienced on their offensive line, bringing in a talent such as Harris  should have made a huge impact.

However, Harris did come with a previous medical history. The Eagles were able to sign the extremely versatile Notre Dame guard on the very cheap, due to his history with extensive back problems. Apparently moving from Denver to Philadelphia didn’t change anything for Harris, as he now set to undergo back surgery to repair a herniated disk. Harris injured his back in the week one pre-season game against the Ravens, but his injury issues with his back stretch long before that.

With Harris out indefinitely, it puts the Eagles offensive line in even more jeopardy. It may be too early to start analyzing the issues, but the offensive line has looked simply terrible this pre-season. Somehow, even with the addition of Danny Watkins, Philadelphia’s line seems to be performing even worse than they were last season. With the chance of Harris returning looking slim, the Eagles may have to make a move to get someone other than King Dunlap to cover Michael Vick’s blindside.

This is a huge loss — Hopefully the Eagles can rebound and get another starter to replace Harris.
