Eagles Pro Bowl CB compares teammate to enormous animal

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay has joined other veteran teammates in praise of first-round rookie Jalen Carter.

The five-time Pro Bowler recently compared Carter to one particular animal.

The University of Georgia product had one quarterback hit (on his very first rep) in the team's preseason-opening loss to the Baltimore Ravens and didn't record any stats in Philadelphia's 18-18 tie against the Cleveland Browns. Carter's played just eight snaps over the two contests.

Eagles longtime defensive tackle Fletcher Cox said last week that the former Bulldog "probably" should've been the No. 1 pick in April's draft. Instead, Carter dropped to ninth overall despite being widely considered the top overall talent in the class of 2023.

The 22-year-old's draft stock fell over the winter due to his involvement in a fatal January crash that took the life of a teammate and Georgia football staffer. An arrest warrant was issued for Carter in early March, and it was reported that he was present at the scene of the Jan. 15 crash and later provided "shifting accounts" of the incident to police.

Carter pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and racing in March in connection with the crash and was given 12 months of probation, a $1,000 fine, 80 hours of community service and an order to complete a driving course.

Philadelphia's last preseason game will take place at 5 p.m. ET on Thursday against the Indianapolis Colts.
