Today, the Philadelphia Eagles made a roster move. Jaiquawn Jarrett, who was a second-round draft pick by the Eagles in last years draft, was released. Many thought that Jarrett was a huge draft bust.
Jarrett did play against the Cleveland Browns this past week. He did not record any tackles and also missed tackling Josh Cribbs on a return.
The 6-foot Temple University product recorded only 15 tackles on defense in 13 NFL games.
The Eagles also signed wide receiver Mardy Gilyard. Gilyard spent the entire preseason with the Eagles until they cut him to finish out their 53-man roster.
Gilyard has caught 6 passes in his NFL career for 63 yards, all coming with the St. Louis Rams. Gilyard also can help out on special teams and returns.
One question does linger from this transaction: Could Jeremy Maclin's injury be more serious than it seemed?

Why Michael Vick May Cost Andy Reid His Coaching Job in Philadelphia
Jeff Zelevansky / Getty Images
Just because Andy Reid is the NFL’s longest-tenured head coach doesn’t mean his position with the Philadelphia Eagles is secured by any means. Ever since taking over in 1999, Reid has been able to elevate the Eagles franchise from mediocrity into the upper echelon of the league, but has never been able to deliver the City of Brotherly Love what...
Philadelphia Eagles: Andy Reid Deflects Blame from Mike Vick
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said on Monday that quarterback Mike Vick wasn’t the only one to blame in the disappointing display of Philadelphia’s offense on Sunday.
I know [QB] Michael [Vick] took the blame yesterday [but] it’s not a one man show. That’s not what it is. Everybody had a piece of this pie starting with me and the coaches. You can’t play like...
Eagles Sign WR Mardy Gilyard, Release S Jaiquawn Jarrett
The Eagles signed WR Mardy Gilyard and released 2011 second-round pick S Jaiquawn Jarrett.
Last season as a rookie, Jarrett played in 12 games with two starts and had 17 tackles. He appeared in Sundays season opener against the Browns but did not record a stat.
Gilyard is a second-year player out of Cincinnati. In 2010, he played in 11 games with two starts and had six catches...
From If to When Michael Vick Gets Hurt in 2012
Football is a supremely physical sport. Players in the National Football League have been getting injured in numerous ways for several years. One of the most polarizing figures in the NFL is Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, Michael Vick. Vick, his dog fighting issues aside, has been one of the most stellar and one of the most heartbreaking quarterbacks at the same time for the Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles: Ugly Win Beats A Pretty Loss
As I sat on the edge of my seat, biting my nails for almost the whole of Sunday’s Eagles versus Cleveland match-up, I almost forgot my writing assignment: top 5 things we learned by watching. As an Eagles fan, I had to be happy with an ugly win, and put on my objective goggles to get present a fair assessment of what five things I “learned” in my Sunday Pigskin School class...
Jeremy Maclin has a hip flexor
According to Geoff Mosher of Comcast Sports Net, Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is pretty sore after suffering a hip flexor on Sunday.

Philadelphia Eagles Week 1 WTF and WTG Awards

While watching the Philadelphia Eagles play the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, what were some things that made you react in excitement or in anger?
Here on Eagles Addict I’ll be giving out weekly WTF and WTG awards to point out what made me happy and what pissed me off about the game.
If you don’t know, WTF is an abbreviation for “What The F#@!” and WTG stands for “Way...
Eagles sneak out of Cleveland with win, calls for Foles can be heard
Eagles win despite Vicks poor play
Ugly, that is the only word you can use in describing the Eagles 17-16 win over the Cleveland Browns Sunday. The fact that the Eagles won the game with 5 turnovers is nothing short of a miracle, well it did have much to do with how bad the Browns are. The Eagles defense kept them in the game, confusing rookie Brandon Weeden with coverages. Weeden completed...
Eagles were "saved by their defense"... ...
I wanted to post GK Brizer's position-group grade on the Eagles win in Cleveland before I have to run on down to M&T Bank Stadium for the disturbingly early kickoff (7:00 P.M. EST) of Monday night's Bengals-Ravens game.I'll be back to add to this artcle after the Ravens game is finished. Hopefully many Eagles fans will be tuned into the Ravens game as a scouting...
Eagles Week 1: The Good vs. The Bad
The Good
The Eagles are 1-0. No one got hurt. LeSean McCoy proved once again that he’s an elite running back. The defense allowed just 16 points, but they were playing the Cleveland Browns, with a rookie quarterback who threw for 188 yards. Philadelphia should have held the Browns to a low output offensively. Even though it is somewhat good, it is more so expected.
The Bad
This...
Philadelphia Eagles Good, Bad and Outright Ugly Win Over Browns
ESPN analyst Jon Gruden stated the Philadelphia Eagles are his choice to make the Super Bowl this year. That same man also stated there was “no way the Eagles have 38 turnovers” also. With as much talent as the Eagles have on both side of the ball there was no way the Eagles were going to go out on opening day against a Cleveland Browns team who sported a rookie quarterback...
Ravens' next challenge---stop Eagles' McCoy....
The Ravens travel to Philly on Sunday, September 16, 2012, to face the Eagles... and one of their main concerns is to shore up their run defense after being gashed by Benjarvus Green-Ellis in their win over Cincy on Monday night...This is easier said than done. No amount of improved gap-protection scheme or refined technique can take way from what LeSean McCoy can bring to a running...
Andy Reid’s Poor Game Management Strikes Again (read his explanation inside)
OT Jason Peters is the most valuable guy on the Eagles team. Without him, things are a lot scarier for Vick and the entire fan base. Unfortunately, he ruptured his achilles making it unlikely he returns until next season. Jason, COME BACK BOO. WE NEED YOU.

Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin Misses Practice Wednesday
Jeremy Maclin was the only player who was in Sunday to miss practice today as he continues to recover from a hip pointer. Andy Reid says that he's getting better and has not ruled out Maclin for the weekend.
"He's actually made progress here over the past couple of days," Reid told reporters. "That's a good thing. He's feeling better. I wouldn'...
Eagles odds and ends – Maclin injured, Gilyard back, Ravens up next
Andy Reid announced after a skin-of-your teeth win against Cleveland in week 1 that wide receiver Jeremy Maclin has a hip pointer. Maclin caught 7 passes Sunday for 96 yards and was the Eagles best receiver. The fact that he was even able to play the whole game was a small victory. Maclin got roughed up on two plays, and was shaken up both times. He sat out a down after the first...
