Thomas Welch The injury of Pro Bowl LT Jason Peters highlighted just how little wiggle room the Eagles had on their offensive line. After making additions via the draft and the signing of undrafted free agents, Philadelphia made yet another move on Friday by claiming OT Thomas Welch off of waivers from the St. Louis Rams. The 24-year old Welch (6-6, 300) played in 8 games in the 2011 season, 3 with the Patriots and 5 with the Rams. In one game with the Pats Welch played as an extra tight end. In addition to New England and St. Louis, he also spend time on Buffalo’s practice squad. Welch, who attended Vanderbilt, was a 7th-round draft pick in 2010, selected by the Patriots. After being released by New England he spent most of his rookie season on the Vikings’ practice squad. Late in 2010 he was promoted to their 53-man roster but did not see any playing time.
