Add Brent Celek to
the list of Philadelphia Eagles starters, also including Michael Vick and
LeSean McCoy, dealing with concussions. The tight end sustained a head injury
on the first play from scrimmage during yesterday’s 23-21 win over the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers, reports Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
"For him to go out, I'll tell you it was a pretty good
[hit]," coach Andy Reid said. "He's a tough kid."
The Eagles haven’t announced the extent of Celek’s
concussion, but the team is entering a short week as they play the Cincinnati
Bengals on Thursday night making it that much more likely he’s unavailable to
play. The tight end had to be helped off the field after a one-yard catch and
went immediately to the locker room to be examined.
Berman notes that if Celek misses Thursday’s matchup with
the Bengals, “every expected opening day starter on offense except guard Evan
Mathis and fullback Stanley Havili will have missed time because of injuries
