The Eagles played a decent game against a rusty-looking Ravens team last night, winning 13-6. Michael Vick and the first team offense looked sharp, despite playing without DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin. Newest Eagle Steve Smith also sat out, as he knee is still not 100%. The Eagles threw the ball 32 times and ran the ball 26 times. That is a huge number for Andy Reid but they need to see what they have in Ronnie Brown, Graig Cooper, and Dion Lewis behind LeSean McCoy.
The defense also stood out to me because they consistently got pressure with rushing their 4 down linemen. This makes them rely less on blitzing to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Rookie (and starting) middle linebacker Casey Matthews played well and did a fine job getting players in position but found himself out of position as he didn't record a single tackle.
