After further examination of the Arizona Cardinals salary cap for 2013, Early Doucet has a high likelihood of becoming a cap casualty. The current 2013 cap hit for the Arizona Cardinals is estimated at 122,949,672, and that doesn’t include free agency and the draft. The projected cap limit for 2013 is 121,000,000. That means the Cardinals will have to shed 1,949,672 just to make the limit for 2013. While Doucet doesn’t necessarily have a high salary with an estimated cap hit for 2013 of 2,250,000, he does however make 1,950,000 on base salary alone. The Cardinals would become under the cap immediately with Doucet’s release. Now this doesn’t mean that Doucet’s release would be tantamount to saving the Cardinals from having to cut ties with more players to make more cap space, but Doucet’s career with the Cardinals isn’t on solid footing.… Read more
