Fox Sports Wisconsin:
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- An early bye week didn't help six injured Green Bay Packers players return to full health, but rookie running back Eddie Lacy passed the concussion protocol and is medically cleared.
"He's full go," coach Mike McCarthy said of Lacy during his Monday press conference. "I think the week off definitely helped him."
Lacy was on the receiving end of a helmet-to-helmet hit on his first carry at Lambeau Field in Week 2. He missed the remainder of that game and also sat out the Packers' Week 3 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Lacy was joined on the practice field Monday by starting safety Morgan Burnett, who missed all three games so far this season with a hamstring injury.
"Morgan Burnett hasn't played in a long time," McCarthy said. "He said he feels great. I'm curious to just see him go through a week of practice."
However, the majority of the players who were on Green Bay's injury report before the bye were still unavailable Monday, even after a week away from football.
That list is headlined by outside linebacker Clay Matthews, who left the Packers' Week 3 game early with a hamstring injury. Cornerback Casey Hayward, who hasn't played yet in the regular season, remains out with a hamstring injury. Fullback John Kuhn and cornerback Jarrett Bush are still out with hamstring injuries, as well.
Tight end Jermichael Finley -- who posted a video on his personal website after suffering a concussion in Week 3 and detailed how his 5-year-old son wanted him to stop playing football, along with James Starks (knee), were sidelined Monday.
McCarthy did not specifically address injury updates to those six players.
"My general sense is we improved," McCarthy said. "We had a number of guys test today, so we'll have that information for you on Wednesday. I haven't even visited with the training staff to see how the workouts went."

It has been said over and over since the Packers got Clay Matthews in the 2009 draft, and he became a star. Matthews is good, but who is his sidekick?
Over the years plenty of teams have paired their elite pass rushers with someone to help take the pressure off of him. In New York, the Giants paired Michael Strahan with Justin Tuck, then Tuck with Pierre-Paul. In Pittsburgh the Steelers...

The Green Bay Packers might have a new look in the secondary for Sunday's game against Detroit with the possible return of safety Morgan Burnett.
Burnett has a new look, too. Last week, Burnett cut off the dreadlocks he's worn since his sophomore year in high school.

The Green Bay Packers may have not like having a bye week so early in the schedule when the weekend began, but looking at the team now, it feels like a blessing in disguise.
The Packers list of injuries runs as deep as it is filled with talent. Some of these guys should be fine (and we'll know more when the team suits up for its first practice of the week in a bit) but...
We knew that the Packers were going to make a move, after releasing wide receiver/kick returner Jermey Ross last week. Many assumed that Green Bay would add a returner to fill Ross’ spot. Instead, the Packers have decided to sign Michael Hill, a running back from their practice squad.
Hill, a rookie from Missouri Western State, spent the off-season with the San Diego Chargers...

Update - Aaron Rodgers says he and McCarthy are all good. As we reported here (below) the two got heated on the sideline during the loss to the Bengals on Sunday.
But on his weekly radio show today, Rodgers repeated his post game comments and that this is simply something that happens between QB and coach if they are passionate and committed to winning like these two are....
In 2009, Johnny Jolly's last full year in Green Bay, the Packers had the league's best run defense, giving up 83.3 yards a game. The run defense is much better this season after missing Jolly the past three seasons.
Morgan Burnett's return to the practice field highlights the Packers' return from their Week 4 bye. Several other key players, however, did not participate at Monday's practice.

Remember when the NFL schedule was first announced for this season and we all learned that the Packers had their bye in Week 4 of the season? Good grief! That was waaaaay too early. Or so we thought. After being beset with injuries of various sorts -- concussions, hamstrings and who knows what else -- the Packers are a physically wounded team very early in the season. Many fans whom...

Good news for Packers fans, this morning. We get our pass-blocking, physically-imposing, actually productive so far in 2013 tight-end back!
As we settle into less than 98 hours until kick off, fans can start to turn the focus away from the debacle in Cincinnati - which included a plethora of Packers injuries.
