Previously thought to be trailing fellow linebackers Jason Phillips and Prescott Burgess, Edgar Jones may have propelled himself to front of the pack. Jones recorded his second sack in as many games in the Ravens’ 27-21 loss to the St. Louis Rams Thursday night. He finished with three tackles – two of which were for losses – and one quarterback hurry. “I feel like I did a good job on defense and on special teams,” he said. “I think there’s always room for improvement. As far as securing a spot on the team, I don’t know. At the end of the day, it’s going to be up to them. I just put everything in the Lord’s hands.” Jones enhanced his case with his play on special teams. After making a tackle each on a kick and punt return, he leads the team with five special-teams stops. That may be enough to impress the coaches, but Jones, an undrafted rookie who signed with the Ravens in 2007, realizes that his case is out of his hands.
