Eli Manning has the honor of calling Metlife Stadium his home field and New York his home city.  So it would be no surprise that days after Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco called the idea of a cold weather Super Bowl retarded, Manning hopped in to set Joe straight. Eli was asked about yesterday, and according to ESPN New York via the New York Daily News, Manning disagrees with Flacco’s wording and opinion. “I disagree with a lot of things about that comment: wording and overall content of it,” theNew York Giantsquarterback told reporters on Friday in New Orleans, according to the New York Daily News. “I think it will be really good.” Manning plays his home games at Metlife, and has played his share of playoff and bad weather games in the stadium.  Manning thinks that’s what makes it exciting. “That’s the good thing about Super Bowls, you want something unique,” Manning said. “You want something different and you don’t want to have it in the same place every year (or) the same environment every year. Obviously as special as New Orleans is and unique it is, New York has that same, if not a better, atmosphere. A sports town, great restaurants, great entertainment. “Obviously the weather will be kind of the big issue. But I always say, ‘Hey, you can play the NFC or AFC Championship Game in cold weather and have snow coming down, and that’s just part of it. Why not have a Super Bowl (in those conditions)?’ Originally, championships were decided in cold-weather games, and outside, and in New York. So this is a chance to bring it back out. I think it will be unique and different and something new and good for the game.” I think most players just assume making it to the Super Bowl is the reward, so the weather should be apart of it.
