Elvis Dumervil‘s agent, Marty Magid, has informed Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald that his client is interested in signing with the Miami Dolphins.
Dumervil is a Miami native and has reportedly already been in contact with multiple teams following his surprising release from the Broncos.
Jackson mentions that the Dolphins have yet to reach out Dumervil’s agent and admits that it would be increasingly difficult for them to add the defensive end and still retain free agent LT Jake Long.
Dumervil already counts as over $4 million in dead money on their books, so a return appears to be doubtful unless he’s willing to accept a reduced salary. Both Dwight Freeney and John Abraham could be options for them to consider. Of the two, Freeney is the most likely candidate.
We’ll have to see which teams end up showing interest in Dumervil in the coming days.
