Former University of Florida great Reggie Nelson has been traded to the Cincinnati Bengals. Around 4:00pm, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the Bengals trying to work a deal which would land the former first round pick in Cincinnati in time for their first regular season game verse the New England Patriots. In return, the Jaguars will receive Corner Back David Jones along with a conditional pick that has yet to be announced. Many sources are stating that it will be a 7th round selection in the 2011 draft, but could be as much as a 5th depending on how much value the Bengals are willing to give up.
Leading into the pre-season, head coach Jack Del Rio made it quite clear that the safety position was up in the air; letting Reggie Nelson, Anthony Smith, Gerald Alexander, Courtney Greene, and former Eagle’s safety Sean Considine compete for both the free safety and strong safety positions.
