Free agent RT Eric Winston joined NFL AM on Thursday and mentioned that he’s no closer to reaching a deal with the Dolphins.
“I’m just kind of looking for the right fit right now,” Winston said, via the Palm Beach Post. ”Obviously I have ties to South Florida. Being down there is not the be all, end all.”
Les Bowen reports that the Eagles recently “checked in” on Winston.
Michael Gehlken reports that the “door remains open” for Winston to sign with the Chargers, but adds that nothing appears imminent at this time.
Winston, 29, is one of the best available offensive tackles still on the market. The Dolphins and Chargers could really use some additional depth, but they appear to be unwilling to pay for a player who has been released twice in as many seasons.
We have Winston listed as the No. 5 player in our recently updated Top 50 Free Agents list.
