ESPN analyst makes wild bold prediction for New York Jets
Danielle Parhizkaran / USA TODAY NETWORK

Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets are going to be one of the most intriguing teams to watch during the upcoming 2024 NFL season.

Last year, the Jets saw their season ripped away from them on their first offensive drive. Rodgers went down with a torn Achilles and everyone knew that the year was over at that exact moment. Thankfully, he has attacked his rehab and is back at full health for the start of the 2024 season.

Due to his return and the stacked roster that Joe Douglas has put together, the New York Jets are again being hyped up as a Super Bowl contender. Some analyst disagree and think New York will fall flat again, but the overwhelming consensus is that the Jets are going to be a team to be reckoned with.

New York Jets Receive Insanely Wild Bold Prediction From ESPN

ESPN analyst Mike Clay took the hype to a new level. He has officially predicted that the New York Jets will end up winning the Super Bowl this season.

“If the Jets stay relatively healthy and Rodgers is something close to his old self, you can plan on hearing “J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS” chants echoing through New Orleans in February.”

While the Jets certainly have the talent needed to be a playoff contender, coming right out and predicting a Super Bowl win is a big-time bet.

Even if Rodgers is healthy and stays healthy, there is no guarantee what version of him we’re going to get. In his last season with the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers put together a rough year. Age began seeming to catch up with him prior to his trade to the Jets.

That isn’t saying that Rodgers can’t return to his MVP version, but it seems unlikely at 40 years old coming off of such a brutal injury.

All of that being said, the Jets got a lot better this offseason. They had a solid 2024 NFL Draft and added free agents like Mike Williams, Tyron Smith, and Javon Kinlaw. Also, they acquired Haason Reddick in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to beef up their defense.

A Super Bowl could very well be in the cards for the New York Jets this season, no one is disputing that. But, there are a lot of factors that have to line up just right. Clay is bold with his prediction and it will be interesting to see if he ends up being right.
