Pretty sure ESPN is just trolling us at this point. I don’t watch ESPN’s First Take, and surprisingly that has nothing to do with the incessant bloviations of Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless. ESPN’s love affair with Tim Tebow has become legendary, and just when you thought the idolization of the Jets backup QB (for now) had died down, First Take goes and pulls this show topic out of their collective asses, because to ESPN, a day without Tebow is like a day without air. Of course First Take was ridiculed on Twitter for daring to ask “Could Tim Tebow have led the 49ers to the Super Bowl?”, and rightfully so. Or as one commenter at Awful Announcing so aptly put it, “How many times need it be said: ESPN is to sports what MTV is to music.” Truth. Here are some tweets mocking First Take‘s terrible taste in show topics and middling quarterbacks… Could Tim Tebow have cured Lennay Kekeu’s leukemia? – ill show myself out — Alfie Crow (@AlfieBCC) January 25, 2013 How quickly would Tim Tebow defeated the Black Plague if he was named a starting QB during the 14th Century? #firsttaketopics — Matt Bohen (@Boski93) January 25, 2013 “Could Tim Tebow have led Custer’s army to victory?” — Ashley Burns (@MayorBurnsy) January 25, 2013 @awfulannouncing If Tim Tebow was made out of spare ribs would you eat him? #FirstTakeTopics — Ryan Kelly (@RyanLKel) January 25, 2013 .@espn_firsttake Should the US look into developing an Universal Soldier-style army of Tim Tebows? #firsttaketopics — Nathan Morales (@Mexinate) January 25, 2013 If a tree falls in the forest, and it falls on Tim Tebow, does Skip Bayless make a sound? #FirstTakeTopics — Hunter Weaver (@JackHunter13) January 25, 2013 I think you get the point…hopefully ESPN does as well.
